Honor-winning Singaporean manager Anthony Chen'southward second characteristic motion-picture show, Moisture Flavour, is prepare to brand its world premiere at the Toronto International Motion-picture show Festival (TIFF). Chen, lead actress Yeo Yann Yann and producer Tan Si En will attend the premiere at the TIFF Bong Lightbox on Sep viii.

Chen's latest motion picture will compete in the festival'south Platform Contest, named after Jia Zhangke'due south film Platform. It's the same section that launched the 2022 Oscar winner, Moonlight.

The Platform Competition will consist of 10 world premiere films this yr, with Wet Flavour as the only Asian title in the listing.  The winner volition receive the Platform Prize of C$20,000 (S$20,780) which volition be decided past a jury. Last year'south prize went to Taiwan-based filmmaker Ho Wi-ding'due south Cities Of Last Things.

Wet Flavour will exist released in Singapore in late November. Chen's debut film, Ilo Ilo, earned numerous accolades, including the Gold Equus caballus Accolade for All-time Film and All-time New Managing director.

The new movie takes identify during the monsoon season in Singapore. It follows the plight of Chinese-language instructor Ling (played by Yeo), whose spousal relationship and school life are falling apart because she is unable to bear a child. However, an unlikely friendship with a student (played by Ilo Ilo's Koh Jia Ler) changes her life.

TIFF will take place from Sep 5 to xv and is the largest film festival in North America. It's regarded as a launchpad for major awards seasons. Some of the films that have gone on to groovy success afterwards the festival include: Slumdog Millionaire; Crouching Tiger, Subconscious Dragon; The Rex's Speech and La La Land.
